IEC 61000-6-3:2020 is a general EMC radiation standard that only applies if the EMC radiation standard for the relevant dedicated product or product family has not yet been released. This part of IEC 61000 radiation requirements applies to electrical and electronic equipment intended for use in residential (see 3.1.14) locations. This part of IEC 61000 also applies to applications intended to be used in cases that do not belong to IEC 61000Electrical and electronic equipment used elsewhere within the scope of-6 – 8 or IEC 61000-6-4.

The purpose is to have all equipment used in residential, commercial and light industrial environments covered by IEC 61000-6-3 or IEC 61000-6-8. If there is any doubt, the requirements of IEC 61000-6-3 apply. Conducted and radiated emission requirements in the frequency range up to 400 GHz are considered essential and have been selected to provide an adequate level of protection for radio reception in the specified electromagnetic environment. Not all interference phenomena are included for testing purposes, but only those that are believed to be related to equipment intended to operate in the locations covered by this document are included.
The transmission requirements in this document do not apply to intentional transmission and harmonics of radio transmitters as defined by the ITU. The third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2006 and its Amendment 1:2010. This version constitutes a technical revision.

NOTE 2 In special circumstances, there may be situations where the levels specified in this document do not provide adequate protection; for example, using sensitive receivers close to equipment. In these cases, special mitigation measures can be used. Note 3 This document does not include interference generated under equipment failure conditions.
Note 4 Since the requirements of this document are more stringent or equivalent to the requirements of IEC 61000-6-4 and IEC 61000-6-8, equipment meeting the requirements of this document complies with IEC 61000-6-4 and IEC 61000-6-8.
