BSI Standards Limited released new versions of standards BS 1363-1:2023, BS 1363-2:2023, BS 1363 – 3:2023, BS 1363-4:2023 and BS 1363-5:2023 on June 30, 2023 with the permission of the British Standards Institute. BS1363 is the British plug and socket standard, and the corresponding old version of the standard will be abolished on June 30, 2026.

What changes have been made to the BS 1363 specification?
  
Changes made to all parts of the standard series (BS 1363 Parts 1-5) include:
  
1. Operating frequencies from 50Hz to 60H are now in the range;
  
2. The minimum copper content of current-carrying parts made of brass should be 58%;
  
3. Insulation and electrical strength testing now includes provisions for disconnect indicators and built-in electronic components;
  
4. Modifications to the switch actuating member requirements, including a single push-button switch with the actuating member occupying a single rest position;
  
5. New requirements for switch actuation force testing of bipolar switches (installation).
  
Other changes specifically made to BS 1363-1: 2023 include:
  
1. New requirements for non-rewirable plugs are used for creepage distances and clearances between fuses and clips, as well as for joint surfaces after the fuse bracket or fuse cover is removed;
  
2. Overload testing of plugs now requires rewirable plugs to be equipped with 13A fuses and non-rewirable plugs to be equipped with;
  
The highest rated fuse for the cable specified in Table 2;
  
3. The new accessory makes recommendations for products that contain BS1363 -1 plug pins.
  
Other changes specifically made to BS 1363-2: 2023 include:
  
1. Sockets containing equipment circuit breakers (CBE) are now included in the standard range;
  
2. New definitions, requirements and testing of individually protected sockets (IPS);
  
3. Socket switches shall not be used for electronic components other than switch indicators;
  
4. Modify the clearance requirements for mounting boxes for embedded sockets;
  
5. Do not use reusable fixtures, anti-tamper screws and safety screws for portable sockets that cannot be rewired;
  
6. Switches in sockets that comply with BS EN IEC 61058: 2018 or BS EN 60669-1: 2018 do not need to be tested for normal operation;
  
7. Modify the requirements for integrated electronic components in the annex. Specifically, USB circuits are designed to charge portable devices and add abnormal conditions and energy efficiency requirements;
  
8. The new appendix provides recommendations for products that include BS 1363-2 sockets.
  
Other changes specifically made to BS 1363-3: 2023 include:
  
1. Changes in adapter rating current requirements;
  
2. New adapter requirements have been added to meet the maximum number of sockets in the same plane;
  
3. The accessory has revised the requirements for integrated electronic components, especially the USB circuit used for charging portable devices, adding abnormal conditions.
