UN 38.3 Conducting battery testing
Lithium-containing batteries must be tested in accordance with UN 38.3 to ensure safe transportation.
We perform the necessary tests for you in our laboratory in accordance with the United Nations Test Manual Part III, Section 38.3, Lithium Metal and Lithium Ion Batteries.

UN 38.3 Transport testing consists of a total of eight separate tests. The test depends on the type of lithium battery or battery cell. Multiple samples must be tested. For example, for rechargeable lithium batteries weighing less than 12 kilograms, tests T1 to T5 and T7 must be performed using 8 batteries each. For batteries larger than 12kg, test items will be reduced by 50%.
Individual test according to UN 38.3:
T1: Elevation simulation/altitude
T2: Thermal test
T3: Vibration
T4: Impact
T5: External short circuit
(T6: Impact)
T7: Overload test/overcharge
T8: Forced discharge
