Exports to Botswana need to comply with the requirements of the Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) Standard Inspection Procedure for Imported Products (SIIR) so that goods can be cleared smoothly.

The Botswana Bureau of Standards implements standard inspection procedures for imported products to ensure that consumers use qualified and safe imported goods and to facilitate trade. Controlled products need to obtain a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) in the exporting country prior to shipment to demonstrate that the goods comply with Botswana technical regulations and mandatory standards, or recognized equivalent international/national standards.

Application process:

Step 1: The importer applies for an IDF(Import Declaration Form) inspection number locally in Botswana and submits the IDF to the exporter;

Step 2: The exporter provides IDF, proforma invoices, packing lists, third-party product test reports, and application forms

Step 3: The exporter submits the application materials to our company, and our company is responsible for submitting them to Kenya for review;

Step 4: After passing the review, we will receive the inspection notice, and our company will arrange the inspection date;

Step 5: During on-site inspection, exporters should pay attention to the fact that the products and product packaging must be printed with madeinChina. The quantity of the products cannot exceed the quantity filled in at the time of application, and the amount cannot exceed the amount at the time of application;

Step 6: After the inspection is completed, the exporter submits the final container list and final invoice to our company;

Step 7: Botswana issues a COC certificate based on the final container list and final invoice.
