What is the test scope of the UN38.3 standard
This range includes high T.1 air simulation test, T.2 high and low temperature cycle test, T.3 vibration test, T.4 impact test, T.4 external short circuit test, T.6 collision test, T.7 overcharge test and T.8 forced discharge test
1. All battery types shall be tested T.1 to T.6 and T.8.
2. All non-rechargeable battery types, including batteries consisting of previously tested batteries, shall be tested T.1 to T.5.
3. All rechargeable battery types, including batteries consisting of previously tested batteries, shall be tested T.1 to T.5 and T.7.
4. In addition, rechargeable cells with overcharge protection shall be subject to test T.7.
5. Component batteries that are not shipped separately from batteries, which are part of the demand
Testing was performed only in accordance with tests T.6 and T.8.
6. Component batteries transported separately from batteries shall be subjected to T.1 to T.6 and T.8 tests.

How to determine if UN 38.3 test results are acceptable
T.1-T.4 The cells and batteries are qualified if there are no leaks, venting, disassembly, rupture, or fires during and after the test, and the open circuit voltage of each test cell or battery pack after testing in the vertical installation position is not less than 90% of the voltage before the start of the procedure.
T.5-T.6 If the external temperature of the cells and batteries does not exceed 170 ° C and there is no disassembly, rupture or fire during the test and within 6 hours after the test.
T.7-T.8 If there is no disassembly and fire during the test and within seven days after the test, the primary or rechargeable battery meets this requirement.
