On September 18, 2023, Saudi Arabia’s Energy Efficiency SASO-2902:2018/AMD2:2023 “Energy Efficiency, Functional and Labeling Requirements for Lighting Products Part 2” was solicited for comments, so the standard may change. The purpose of revising the standard SASO-2902: 2018 is to further clarify some requirements and ensure the ideal application of the standard. Some definitions have been added, as well as some requirements for labeling and exemption products. Consumer information, labeling, environmental protection, etc.
The expected changes are as follows:

Remove hazardous substances from regulatory parameters.

Add the definition of expandable LED modules and chandeliers.

Add requirements for LED strips or strings:
Rated power and rated luminous flux are declared in accordance with 1 meter;
The test results will be reported at 0.5 meters.

Exempted products
Product exemptions are mainly used for non-lighting purposes.
Add:
RGB or RGB/W lamps;
Floor lamp, desk lamp, wall lamp;
Chandeliers (except suspended strip lights, suspended panel lights, suspended mining lamps).

Products exempted for technical reasons
Add:
The lamp cannot be tested due to the product weight exceeding 50kg; the product length exceeding 2 meters;
The beam angle of the lamp is less than 10°;
The IP rating of lamps is IP65 and higher (except floodlights, street lights).
