Canada’s Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) has updated and released the RSS-247 Issue 3 standard to replace the RSS-247 Issue 2 standard. There is a transition period of 6 months from the release date of Issue 3. During the transition period, both Issue 2 and Issue 3 versions can be used. After the transition period (2023.8.3-2024.2.2), only Issue 3 certification applications will be accepted.

The main changes in the new standard are as follows:
1. Section 2.1 has been added to include information on the effective date and transition period of this new standard.
2. Section 6.2 was revised to clarify that different measurement methods can be used depending on the operating frequency range of the equipment.
3. Add section 6.2.5 to describe equipment requirements in the range of 5850-5895 MHz (including covering this Band, such as 5725-5895 MHz).
4. Section 6.2.5.1 was added to provide general information and definitions for the 5850-5895 MHz frequency band.
5. Add section 6.2.5.2 to determine power limits for equipment operating in the 5850-5895 MHz frequency band.
6. Section 6.2.5.3 was added to determine the limit of spurious emissions for equipment operating in the 5850-5895 MHz band.
