The Ministry of Trade of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (MOT) has established legal and technical regulatory requirements for controlled products entering the country covered by 124 Ethiopian mandatory standards. All imported controlled products must be assessed for compliance by reviewing their existing certificates and valid test reports. Product inspection and testing (if required) will then be carried out and a certificate of compliance will be presented when customs clearance at Ethiopian ports. The Ethiopian Ministry of Trade has approved Intertek to provide exporters with the necessary certificates of compliance.

1. Submit a proforma invoice containing the address information of the importer and exporter;
　　
2. Submit existing product test reports;
　　
3. If necessary, please provide HS CODE, product pictures, materials, uses, factory ISO certificates and other information to help confirm the audit standards faster;
　　
4. Technical Department reviews documents. Approved by appointment for inspection;
　　
5. Notify the review results on the second day after inspection. After passing the inspection, the goods can be shipped, and the final confirmed box list invoice will be submitted to issue the certificate.
　　
The test report required to be provided above is required to be issued by a laboratory with ISO/IEC17025 qualification (in China, it is a laboratory with CNAS qualification). Goods that pass our review and inspection and issue COC certificates will no longer be subject to frequent sampling testing or inspections after arriving in Ethiopia, which is self-evident to importers. Product information and HS CODE can be provided to confirm whether the product is in the compulsory inspection catalog.
　　
Product labels and instructions (if available) should be in English or Amharic. If food is packaged before being sold, the label must be in English and Amharic and must show the manufacturer’s name and address, as well as the expiration date. The product shelf life (validity period) cannot be before the date of arrival at the port of destination.
