On November 27, 2023, Vietnam MIC issued a draft notice to revise and supplement the control content of communication products. The draft is expected to take effect on April 1, 2024, and replaces the currently in force regulation Circular 04/2023/TT-BTTTT and the notice issued in September this year on suspending testing under extreme conditions and suspending the implementation of some technical standards such as 5G NR.

　　The draft content includes:

　　1. Revise the application rules of QCVN in 5G base station equipment, and 5G base stations of different technologies are applicable to different QCVN standards.

　　2. Revision of the QCVN Regulation applicable to radio equipment:

1) Extreme testing of 2G/ 3G/ 4G/ 5G base station and repeater products will continue to be suspended.

2)Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) radios are not eligible for TRS and TRP testing requirements.

3)Digital microwave equipment is not suitable for the antenna requirements and limit testing of the QCVN 53:2017/BTTTT standard.

4)The RF standard applicable to maritime special equipment will be uniformly changed to QCVN 47:2015/BTTTT.

5)76 – 77 GHz radar equipment used for transportation will no longer require the QCVN 124:2021/BTTTT standard.

6)Wireless charging devices will no longer require the QCVN 55:2011/BTTT standard.

　　3. Four QCVN standard versions have been released. The new standard version will be implemented from July 1, 2024, replacing the old standard version:

1)QCVN 55:2023/BTTTT replaces QCVN 55:2021/BTTTT

2)QCVN 110:2023/BTTTT replaces QCVN 110:2017/BTTTT

3)QCVN 111:2023/BTTTT replaces QCVN 111:2017/BTTTT

4)QCVN 117:2023/BTTTT replaces QCVN 117:2020/BTTTT

　　4. Other supplementary provisions:

1)5G mobile phone equipment is required to support both SA and NSA modes to ensure that it can work on all frequency bands (including N77, N78) required by the QCVN127:2021/BTTTT and QCVN129:2021/BTTTT standards.

2)For QCVN 128:2021/BTTTT standard, the 5G base station performance requirements mentioned in Article 2.4 are not applicable; this technical requirement is not applicable to extreme testing.

3)For TV testing standards QCVN63:2020/BTTTT, MIC re-allows importers/manufacturers to use test reports based on built-in tuner to make compliance declarations for all TV models that use the tuner.
