GB/T 36276-2023 “Ionic Batteries for Power Storage” was released at the end of December 2023 and will be implemented on July 1, 2024. With the rapid development of the battery energy storage market in recent years, accidents have emerged one after another. Compared with the old version of the standard in 2018, the overall structure of the new version of the standard is basically unchanged, but the technical conditions are more stringent and the test requirements are more complete.
The structural levels of the energy storage system are as follows: battery cells are connected in series and parallel to form battery modules, battery modules are connected in series and parallel to form battery clusters, battery clusters are connected in parallel to form battery energy storage systems, and battery energy storage systems are connected in parallel to form battery energy storage power stations. Among them, the performance and safety of battery systems are the cornerstone of the operation of energy storage power stations.
GB/T 36276-2023 covers key working parameters and performance safety from battery cells, battery modules to battery cluster levels, and puts forward clear requirements for all battery levels.
Due to the long overall length, the details of the key changes in the old and new versions of the standard only for battery cells are as follows:

summary
Overall, the new version of GB/T 36276 has many changes, such as:
♦ Performance part: All performance indicator requirements have been tightened;
♦ Cycle part: In order to shorten the cycle time, it was changed to 45C cycle;
♦ Thermal runaway part: Change to dual triggering of overcurrent and heating;
♦ Safety part: Test conditions have also been tightened, and short-circuit and extrusion conditions have become stricter;
Strict testing requirements pose greater challenges to manufacturers. Manufacturers also need to understand in a timely manner that the new version of the standard requires targeted design changes to products to ensure smooth passing of the test.
