IEC 60730-2-12:2015(E) applies to electric door locks used in, on or in connection with equipment, including equipment for heating, air conditioning and similar applications. The equipment can use electricity, gas, oil, solid fuels, solar thermal energy, etc., or a combination of them.
This standard also applies to electric door locks for equipment intended for public use, such as equipment used in stores, offices, hospitals, farms, and commercial and industrial applications. This standard does not apply to electric door locks specifically used in industrial process applications unless explicitly mentioned in the equipment standard. This standard does not apply to electric door locks used for secure access applications.
Part 2 is intended to be used in conjunction with IEC 60730-1. It is based on the fifth edition of the publication (2013). Future versions or revisions of IEC 60730-1 may be considered.
The third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2005. This version constitutes a technical revision. This version includes the following major technical changes compared to the previous version: aligning the text with IEC 60730-1, 5th edition;-modifying the requirements for Class B control functions (H.27.1.2.2);-modifying the requirements for Class C control functions (H.27.1.2.3), and modifying the requirements for faults during safe shutdowns. Or revised, IEC 60730-1.
