Electronic products with WiFi functionality, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops and routers

Wireless devices are communication equipment used to receive or transmit radio signals. It relies on electromagnetic waves (radio waves), which are divided into many types according to different electromagnetic wave frequencies and connection protocols. Long-distance transmission includes LORA,GSM, NB-IOT, etc., and short-distance transmission includes Bluetooth, WIFI, Zigbee, etc.

EU CE-RED certification

RED certification (The Radio Equipment Directive) is a mandatory certification for wireless products by the EU CE certification. Products with wireless transmission frequencies such as tablets, wireless doorbells, Bluetooth devices, WiFi devices, wireless alarm devices, radio receiving and transmission equipment, telephones, computers, etc., all need to apply for RED certification.

New version of the Wireless Device Directive RED 2014/53/EU

Why do different products have different testing items? RED certification corresponds to different product testing standards…

For products operating at frequencies (25MHz-1000MHz(27MHz,433MHz,868MHz)

EN 300 422-1/-2 (RF testing), EN 301 489-1/-9 (EMC testing), EN 60950-1 (LVD safety testing), EN 50371 (harm assessment);

For FM transmitters operating at:88.1-107.9

EN 3001357 (RF testing), EN 301 489-1/9 (EMC testing), EN 60950-1 (LVD safety testing), EN 50371 (harm assessment);

For operating frequencies:WCDMA 3G products (such as mobile phones,3G routers)

EN 301 908-1 (RF testing), EN 301 908-2 (RF testing), EN 301 489-24 (EMC testing), EN 50360.50361: 2001 (SAR testing), EN 60950-1 (LVD safety testing);

When you choose to export to the EU, your product may be within the RED range, don’t miss it!

U.S. FCC-ID/BQB certification

The FCC has two certification models for different categories of products. Among them, wireless and radio frequency products must apply for FCC-ID, and other products can apply for FCC-SDoC.

BQB(Bluetooth Qualification Body) Bluetooth certification is a mandatory certification by the American Bluetooth Technology Alliance. It is a patent certification for Bluetooth products, also known as Bluetooth qualification certification.

BQB and FCC-ID correspond to different types of product management, one for wireless devices, and the other for Bluetooth devices! Note: It is not necessary to have BQB certification for those with Bluetooth functions, but it can also be FCC. On the contrary, those with wireless functions must have FCC-ID certification.

Let’s talk about FCC-ID first. There are currently two types of FCC certification. The first type is FCC-ID, which is specialized in wireless. The second FCC-SDoC is made by electronic products that do not include wireless functions. Please refer to the FCC certification for specific information as follows:

General products (for electromagnetic compatibility and EMC testing)

For example, electronic scales, humidifiers, sweaters, electric fans, etc. If the above products do not have wireless functions, FCC-SDoC will be used.

Wireless products (wireless testing)

For example, mobile phones, wireless remote controls, Bluetooth slightly, tablet computers, etc., do FCC-ID certification

Other wireless products

This item refers to products that can still work normally without the wireless function, or have a USB interface and have the function of data transmission. This is recommended for both FCC-SDoC and FCC-ID certification.

Common FCC certification test content! FCC certification only regulates electromagnetic interference, which is mainly divided into the following methods:

Radiation Emission propagates through space. From 30Mhz to 1 Ghz. Most of the interference at high frequencies is radiated interference. Generally, two types of interference can coexist simultaneously.

Conducted interference propagates through power lines, signal lines and other conductors. The FCC requires frequencies from 150Khz to 30Mhz, and most of the interference occurring at low frequencies is conducted interference. It is mainly aimed at electronic products that are connected to the power grid.

Antenna-end disturbance, mainly for equipment with external antennas, such as TV.

FCC certification testing standards: FCC Part 15, FCC Part 18!

Test items: radiated emission; conducted emission; harmonic current; flicker; frequency error; adjacent channel power; scattered emission; conducted carrier power; effective emission power; loudness of transmitter to modulation frequency; modulation band range of broadband equipment; frequency stability under low voltage conditions, etc.

Then BQB Bluetooth certification, its scope is very simple, summarizing in one sentence “products that use Bluetooth technology and use” Bluetooth “and” Bluetooth logo “.”

In the first form of certification, if the product has not been made into any form of BQB, it will be made into QDL;

Part 1: Purchasing DID from SIG

There are three types of DID fees, and choose the best depending on your own situation!

The first type: Junior member (that is, you will become a junior member after registering)

Type 2: Annual membership

Third: Bluetooth Association incentive plan

Part 2: Testing.

QDL requires product testing, mainly RF and Profile testing. After passing the test, the laboratory submits the test report to BQE(Bluetooth Qualified Expert) for review;

Part 3: Listing names.

After being reviewed and approved, listing will be made on the official website of SIG;

The second form of certification, Product Listing

If a Bluetooth solution provider has done QDL, then the finished product manufacturer can choose the form of Product Listing if the same module is used; that is, the finished product manufacturer can directly purchase the DID from SIG and then list the product. No need to find a laboratory to test!

Hint! For BQB certification, you only need to purchase 1 DID without changing the Bluetooth module. It is a Bluetooth keyboard with the same module, and you can simply list the name directly. There is no need to buy another DID!

Attention! BQB certification has no time limit. As long as it has been certified and its certification module has not been changed, it will be valid for a long time!

Japan TELEC Certification

Japan’s TELEC “Radio Method” requires model approval (i.e. technical regulations compliance certification) for designated radio equipment, which is a mandatory certification in Japan. Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications is referred to as MIC, and its full English name is Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications is the regulatory authority of Japan’s Radio Wave Law and Electrical Communications Business Law. Generally speaking, MIC certification is equivalent to TELEC certification.

Radio wave certification mainly controls the radio frequency part of products. Common test indicators include:

○ Frequency error,

◆ Antenna power density,

○ Channel bandwidth Occupied bandwidth,

◆ Dwell time, etc.

Most of the test items for WiFi and Bluetooth products are similar to the European standard EN300 328, but the test items are simpler and fewer than the European standard EN300 328.

TELEC certification targets wireless radio frequency products including: Bluetooth products, ZigBee products, telemeters, WiFi products, wireless microphones, pagers, LTE·RFID (2.4GHz, 920MHz) products, UWB radio systems, GSM products, etc.

TEC certification includes Test Certification and Type Certification

Test certification: Verification is carried out for each equipment unit, and this certification is only valid for each verified equipment unit;

Type approval: refers to the verification of samples of a batch of equipment of the same design and manufacture. This approval is valid for this batch of equipment, but if the design or manufacturing of the equipment changes, the equipment will need to be re-certified.
