The Australian Household Appliances Safety Standard is approved and published by the Australia/New Zealand Joint Technical Committee EL-002. This standard adopts the IEC60335 series of standards and considers, inter alia, providing protection against multiple types of hazards when using appliances under normal conditions, such as electrical, mechanical, heat, fire and radiation. It also considers how electromagnetic phenomena affect the safe operation of electrical appliances.
