On June 23, 2022, the UK Department for Commerce, Energy and Industrial Strategy issued Circular G/TBT/N/GBR/49, notifying the Product Safety (Amendment) Regulations 2022. The regulation involves amendments to regulations related to mechanical products, electronic equipment, toys, pressure vessels, elevators and other products, and applies to England, Wales and Scotland.

The regulation will allow manufacturers to complete CE mark conformity assessments before December 31, 2022 as the basis for the UK Conformity Mark UKCA, which will be valid during the certificate issuance period or until December 31, 2027 (whichever is shorter); it will also allow ongoing activities (such as annual inspections) related to completed conformity assessments to continue during the certificate issuance period or until December 31, 2027 (whichever is shorter). The regulation will also extend the implementation date of the current legislation to December 31, 2025, and continue to allow manufacturers to choose to add importer information and UKCA marks on the product body or accompanying documents, rather than having to do it on the product body. Physical marking.
Warm suggestion: Starting from January 1, 2023, the UKCA mark will completely replace the CE mark as the conformity assessment mark for most UK products。The revised regulations aim to reduce the service supply pressure on conformity assessment agencies and reduce the cost of repeated testing for enterprises in conformity assessment activities, in order to respond to the challenges of the COVID-19 epidemic and promote trade liberalization. In view of the differences in the UKCA mark application procedures and the application cycle of nearly two months, it is recommended that relevant manufacturers and traders planning to put their products on the UK market should apply for UKCA to the British certification body as soon as possible to use the UKCA mark on their products; At the same time, pay attention to the updates and changes in import labeling and testing requirements after the approval of the revised regulations, make good use of the CE mark conformity assessment materials completed before the end of 2022, avoid repeated testing, and successfully apply for the UKCA mark.
