On March 20, 2023, the Korea Institute of Technology and Standards (KATS) issued a new announcement 2023-0027, officially starting to implement the new version of KC62619.
The standard will take effect immediately from the date of release, and the old version of the KC 62619 standard will be abolished on March 21, 2024.
The following is the new version of KC 62619 certification guide, for reference only:
scope of certification
● Fixed energy storage system/mobile energy storage system;
● Large-capacity mobile power supply (such as camping power supply, etc.);
● Mobile power supply for car charging.
Capacity: Within 500Wh to 300kWh.
Not applicable: Batteries such as automobiles (power batteries), aircraft, railways, and ships are not included in the scope.
transition period
From March 21, 2023 to March 21, 2024, that is, mandatory implementation will begin on March 21, 2024.
acceptance time
KTR will not be able to issue a new version of KC62619 certificate and accept CB transfer business until March 21, 2024. Prior to this:
● Batteries within the scope of the old standard (i.e. fixed energy storage cells/battery systems) can be issued with the old version of KC62619. If there are no technical changes, upgrade standards are not mandatory. However, market supervision will be evaluated according to the latest version of the standards.
● Batteries within the scope of the new standard need to be sent to South Korea for testing, but the certificate will not be issued until March 21, 2024.
