On November 23, 2022, the European Union issued Regulation (EU) No. 2022/2291, formally amending the “Persistent Organic Pollutants”(POPs) regulations and replacing hexachlorobenzene (HCB)(CAS No.: 118-74-1) has been set at 10 mg/kg to clarify legal issues and facilitate enforcement.

In the original version (EU) 2019/1021), the requirements for HCB were prohibited, but there were no clear limit requirements.(EU) 2022/2291 clarified the specific limit, that is, ≤ 10 mg/kg is required in substances, mixtures or articles. This limit will officially take effect on December 13, 2022.
