      IP protection level

IP (INGRESS PROTECTION) level of protection. The IP protection level consists of two numbers. The first number represents the level of dust prevention and foreign object intrusion.

The second number indicates the degree of tightness against moisture and water intrusion. The higher the number, the higher the level of protection.

    The specific protection levels are as follows:

The IP (Ingress Protection) protection registration system was drafted by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) to classify electrical appliances according to their dust and moisture protection characteristics. The IP protection level is composed of two numbers. The first number represents the level of dust prevention and prevention of foreign objects (the foreign objects referred to here include tools, and human fingers, etc. cannot touch the live parts of the appliance to avoid electric shock), and the second number represents the degree of tightness of the appliance against moisture and water intrusion. The higher the number, the higher the level of protection.

IP dust level judgment:

IP1X: Effective for foreign matter larger than 50mm;

IP2X: Effective for foreign matter larger than 12.5mm;

IP3X: Effective for foreign matter larger than 2.5mm;

IP4X: Effective for foreign matter larger than 1mm;

IP5X: Dust-proof, some dust may pass through, but not enough to damage the product;

IP6X: Completely dustproof.

IP waterproof level judgment:

IPX1: Prevent water droplets falling vertically for 10 minutes, equivalent to 1mm of rainfall per minute;

IPX2: When tilted 15° from the normal position, the equipment can be prevented from being immersed in water for 10 minutes. Equivalent to 3mm of rainfall per minute;

IPX3: Water falls as a spray at an angle of 60° to the vertical for 10 minutes. Water volume: 10 liters per minute. Pressure: 50-150kPa;

IPX4: Water splashed onto the enclosure from any direction for 10 minutes. Water volume: 10 liters per minute. Pressure 50-150kPa;

IPX5: Nozzle (6.3mm) sprays water into the housing from any direction for 3 min. Water volume: 12.5 liters per minute, pressure: 30kPa;

IPX6: Water is sprayed onto the enclosure in a powerful jet (12.5mm) from any direction for 3 min. Water volume: 100 liters per minute Pressure: 100kPa;

IPX7: Soak in water at a depth of 15 cm to 1 meter for 30 minutes to prevent water from entering;

IPX8: Continuous immersion in water under conditions specified by the supplier prevents the ingress of water.
